New TV Shows of 2015

1. Galavant (Premiered: January 4th) – The American musical comedy ‘Galavant’ is fairy tale-inspired and premiered in the first week of January. The story revolves around a fictional character called Prince Galavant and his adventures on the road while trying to seek his ‘Happy ending’. In his quest to find the evil king who stole his one true love, the first season of the series will include 8 episodes starring Joshua Sasse as Prince Galavant.


2. Agent Carter (Premiered: January 6th) – Based on Marvel’s Captain America movies, Agent carter is an American TV series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Revolving around the story of a secret agent ‘Peggy Carter’, this Science-fiction/adventure series also premiered in the first week of January, starring Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter.


3. Empire (Premiered: January 7th) – The American drama television series ‘Empire’ centres on a family which owns a Hip-hop music and entertainment company called Empire Enterprises. Watch this one for the deliciously dramatic ups and downs the Lyon family goes through as every member fights for control of the company. Starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, the series, said to be inspired in part by William Shakespeare’s ‘King Lear’, premiered in the first week of January.


4. Togetherness (Premiered: January 11th) – The American television comedy, ‘Togetherness’ premiered on HBO in the second week of January. Following the lives of two couples living under the same roof and their everyday struggle with each other, the series stars Mark Duplass, Melanie Lynskey, Amanda Peet and Steve Zissis.


5. Man Seeking Woman (Premiered: January 14th) – Based on a book of short stories ‘The Last Girlfriend on Earth’ by Simon Rich, this American comedy series revolves around the life of a twenty-something guy and his quest to find love after getting dumped by his longtime girlfriend. Premiered exactly a month before Valentine’s Day, this not-so-romantic series stars Jay Baruchel.


6. 12 Monkeys (Premieres: January 16th) – The sci-fi- drama ‘12 Monkeys’ depicts the journey of a time traveller, James Cole, who lands in the present from the year 2043 when most of the world population has become exterminated. Check this show out to follow Cole’s exciting mission to prevent a deadly virus from affecting the Earth’s present-day population.


7. Backstrom (Premieres: January 22nd) – The American crime-comedy/drama series ‘Backstrom’ releases in the third week of January. Based on the Swedish book series by Leif G. W. Persson, the show follows the life of Detective Lieutenant Everett Backstrom who returns from his 5-year-old banishment to take charge of serious crimes and offences.


8. The Odd Couple (Premieres: February 19th) – The remake of the 1970 series ‘The Odd Couple’, stars the ever famous Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon. Premiering in the third week of February, this series is based on the life of two former college buddies who become unlikely roommates after the breakdown of their respective marriages.


9. The Last Man on Earth (Premieres: March 1st) – The American futuristic comedy ‘The Last Man on Earth’ premieres in the first week of March. The much-awaited series centres around the life of the last man on the planet and his journey through different parts of America to find other survivors.


10. One Big Happy (Premieres: March 17th) – The series ‘One Big Happy’ follows the life of two best friends, a lesbian and her childhood straight guy friend who decide to start a family by having a baby. Things go a little differently in their lives during the pregnancy when the guy suddenly gets married to another woman he met at a bar.


11. iZombie (Premieres: March 17th) – The crime-drama-comedy ‘iZombie’ releases on the same day as One big happy. The American television series is based on the life of a medical student who apparently is a Zombie and works at the Coroner’s office to eat the brains of dead people. In the process, she realises that their memories also get transferred in her head, egging her to solve the mystery of their deaths.


12. Daredevil (Premieres: April 10th) – Another one of Marvel’s action/adventure series ‘Daredevil’ premieres in April this year. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series revolves around the story of a blind lawyer who is also a crime fighter with superhumanly-enhanced senses.
