Actress Richa Chadha was left teary eyed when her film Masaan which was premiered at the Cannes International Film Festival received a five minutes long standing ovation. Richa Chadha who made her debut in 2013 Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur is the lead actress in the movie. Masaan is an Indo-French co-production produced by Manish Mundra and is one of the only two Indie movies that have been screened at Cannes this year, the other being Chauthi Koot a Punjabi film. Based on a true story, the film portrays four lives that intersect along the Ganges; a lower-caste boy in hopeless love, a daughter ridden with the guilt of a sexual encounter ending in a tragedy, a helpless father with a fading morality and a spirited child yearning for a family, all longing to escape the moral constructs of a small-town.
